At this meeting we heard about work in Sheffield on the climate change and net zero agenda, considered Sheffield’s recovery from Covid-19 and this Board’s role in that, and received an update on the Council’s approach to engagement around equalities and the Race Equality Commission.
10.45 am - Net Zero Carbon Sheffield - Climate Change - Mark Whitworth, Climate Change and Sustainability Service Manager, Sheffield City Council presented an update on how Sheffield’s approach to climate change and the net zero agenda is developing. 11.15 am - SCPB and its role in Sheffield’s Recovery - A short discussion paper for this item was circulated ahead of the meeting. The paper asked the Board to consider their role as a group in developing a plan for Sheffield’s recovery to enable the city to hit the ground running when Covid restrictions ease, and posed a number of questions for consideration in relation to this.
11.40 am - Equalities, Engagement and the Race Equality Commission - Adele Robinson, Equality & Engagement Manager, Sheffield City Council briefed the Board on work being undertaken to review the Council’s approach to engagement around equalities issues. Professor Kevin Hylton, Chair, Sheffield Race Equality Commission introduced himself to the Board and updated on progress with the Race Equality Commission.
