Joined Up Heritage Sheffield

On Friday 14th July we were joined by Robin Hughes and Jenny Morton of Joined Up Heritage and Dr Lizzy Craig-Atkins of the University of Sheffield, Roots and Futures to give us an update on their work (it’s been 5 years since their last visit!).

Joined Up Heritage’s objective is to be a collective voice to develop an improved heritage offer for the Sheffield area and in February 2023 Sheffield City Council resolved to ask the Strategy & Resources Policy Committee to add the Heritage Strategy for Sheffield to its work programme.  Robin asked that the Board make explicit reference to heritage in the City Goals.

Roots & Futures explores place-based heritage with underserved communities in Sheffield.  It plans to ensure a growing evidence base of diverse voices regarding cultural heritage interests and needs, and that it is used effectively across the city to enhance belonging and visibility.  More information can be found here: Roots and Futures | Archaeology | The University of Sheffield
