Sheffield Economic Evidence Base

Sheffield Economic Evidence Base

As part of work to develop a new set of City Goals for Sheffield, Sheffield City Council commissioned a new Economic Evidence Base, or Local Economic Assessment which brought together data and research on the city’s economy into one place.

It has brought together data and evidence from various sources to understand the challenges and opportunities facing Sheffield’s economy including, but not limited to, the impacts of COVID.  It has also reframed what is regarded as ‘the economy’ from a policy perspective including health, inclusion, inequalities and climate change.  Partners across the city, from the community and business sectors along with major anchor institutions were involved in the steering and working groups overseeing the Economic Evidence Base.  The City Partnership received a presentation on the report’s findings in May 2022.  The work was undertaken by economic consultants KADA and Ekosgen and was finalised in September 2022.
